Important Curriculum Info
One of the attributes of the Mechanical Engineering curriculum at the University of Houston is its flexibility. Owing to the large number of MECE technical electives in our curriculum, you have the ability of customizing your education to further your intellectual curiosity and capabilities.
The Mechanical Engineering faculty are committed to providing this diverse education for you. We are making every effort to offer you technical electives that are current and relevant with respect to the very recent scientific and engineering discoveries. This list of new courses include Modern Machine Elements Design, Optimization Methods for Kinematics and Dynamics of Machines and Nano-Mechanics just to name a few.
In addition to course work, we have implemented a fast-track program which allows you to obtain a Master of Science degree (non-thesis) with one additional year of study beyond your B.S. degree! All of these opportunities are intended to make you more competitive and relevant to employers.
To implement these new courses, the department has moved to a once-a-year offering on some of our undergraduate courses. I am committed to maintaining a classroom size where a quality education can be effectively delivered. The time of these courses will follow the curriculum flow chart. I will be working closely with Dr. Rao to make sure that you will be able to complete your degree in a timely fashion.
Have a great semester,
David Zimmerman, Ph.D.†
Professor and Interim Chair of Mechanical Engineering
