The Graduate Program in Mechanical Engineering provides our students with an educational experience grounded in the engineering sciences and focused on producing a professional capable of systematically applying those sciences to solve real-world problems.

Our program encompasses advanced study and research in the areas of applied mechanics, control of dynamical systems, materials science, thermal and fluid sciences, and biomedical engineering. We are also home to the college's interdisciplinary program in Aerospace Engineering. Degree programs include:

Qualified applicants should have backgrounds in engineering, mathematics, and the physical sciences. Part-time graduate study is encouraged, and several of our graduate courses are offered as evening classes (4:00 PM and later). Accelerated Master Fellowships available for UH Mechanical Engineering undergraduate students!

The Accelerated Masters Fellowship (AMF), established in Fall 2016, is intended to encourage qualified graduating students with a Bachelors degree from the Cullen College of Engineering to pursue a Masters degree and gain cutting-edge expertise and skills that enable them to more easily secure leadership positions in industry, government, consulting, and the private sector. Students who are awarded this fellowship can complete up to 6 semester hours in their undergraduate degrees towards the Master’s degree thus graduating with an M.S. in two long semesters.

Admissions scholarships available for incoming International students!

This Spring 2017 all admitted master's students will be offered a $1,000 admissions scholarship!  Receiving this scholarship also qualifies international and out-of-state students for a waiver of the non-resident portion of their tuition for the Spring 2017 and Summer 2017 semesters.
